Presentation at ENTER2012

ELIKO's senior researcher Ago Luberg presented a paper at the ENTER2012 conference titled "Information Retrieval for a Tourist Recommender System" (authors Ago Luberg, Priit Järv and Tanel Tammet).

Presented paper describes different problems and offers a solution to tourism information extraction from web in recommender system called Sightsplanner (http://tallinn.sightsplanner.com). More specifically, the paper gives an overview of a semi-automatic object scraping along with keyword extraction, tourism object deduplication and merging duplicate objects. The system is already in use in Sightsplanner - and today it has already significantly improved the accuracy of finding duplicate objects in web scraped data.

In 2012, ENTER's conference topic was called "eTourism Present and Future Services and Applications" and it took place in Helsingborg, Sweden at the end of January. More information about the conference can be found from their web page: http://www.enter2012.org/

On the 28th of March ELIKO NFC project manager Mr. Ivo Mehide gave a presentation in Riga at the annual Card Academy Conference. ELIKO's presentation was entitled "Discovering the viability of contactless payments in Estonia" and was focusing on the current NFC research project running in ELIKO.

ELIKO developed a universal wireless alarm transmission module for an insulin pump for children with diabetes. The aim of the developed device is to alarm parents of critical events recorded by the pump (e.g. low insulin, low battery etc) when they are not close by their children, like in the case of sleeping.
