ELIKO developed a communication module for an insulin pump

ELIKO developed a universal wireless alarm transmission module for an insulin pump for children with diabetes. The aim of the developed device is to alarm parents of critical events recorded by the pump (e.g. low insulin, low battery etc) when they are not close by their children, like in the case of sleeping.

The device detects the vibration of the pump and sends a signal to a receiver device that creates an acoustic alarm.  The device uses Zigbee protocol for communication and an accelerometer to detect pump vibration.

The development of the device was done for A.N. Management Llc. and was funded through the innovation voucher scheme provided by Enterprise Estonia.
