Priority number: EE200700005; Priority date: 23.01.2007
Possible applications: ISO18000-6 and EPC readers and other solutions, where FM0 , bi-phase or differential Manchester decoding is used.
Goal of the invention: improvement of decoding in noise (so using less power or longer distance!)
by better synchronisation.
Prototope: OMAP-based terminal hardware, decoding algorithm realised as C/C++ code of DSP
Abstract:
Method and device for synchronization of a decoder of a RFID receiver, including calculation of the first correlation of the digitized received signal with the first- preamble-shaped -reference signal, and in parallel - calculation of the second correlation with second reference signal, derived from the preamble. Synchronized state is determined by the approximate maximum of the first correlation signal and the minimum absolute value of the second correlation signal. Precise synchronization is achieved by re-sampling of the first and second reference signals, by correcting the starting point of the first and second reference signals, and sampling period, calculated from the first and second correlation signals. Reasonable could be using of the fragment of the first and second reference signals (derived from the preamble) in the initial phase of the synchronization process. Reasonable is also extension of the first and second reference signals according to decoded symbols. Reasonable could be using of one-pass or iterative calculation of the correction parameters.
